Killzone 2 is now out there on the streets, although I’m not playing it for the reasons outlined previously. It is regarded, by many, as the best-looking game ever to have been released, be it on PS3, any other console, or even the PC. But is this the best the PS3 can do? Or is there more to come in the years ahead?
I may have decided to avoid Killzone 2 for a month or so, but that doesn’t mean I’m not impressed with the game, at least visually. Mike has previously stated that it’s the best looking game of this generation, even surpassing the PC eye popper that is Crysis. And on the evidence I’ve so far seen, he’s not far wrong.
The game is by no means perfect. The single player campaign looks like it could be a little short, and there are some little annoyances that have force reviewers to mark it down a percentage point or two. There’s also the fact that it does little that’s new or original – though what it does do, it does extraordinarily well.
Visually though, it’s stunning, with only the slight over-reliance on the gray scale a downside. So the question is, can the PS3 do better in terms of graphics? Read more
