*This article may contain small spoilers for the Assassin’s Creed. But nothing that will give away core parts of the story*
With Assassin’s Creed III just around the corner I thought it would be a good time to shed some light on those fast facts players may not have known about their favorite assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze. Ezio has been one of those characters that made a difference in player’s lives; he is cool, he is recognizable and he is one of those characters that we have watched grow. Since his early life players got engulfed in Ezio’s story and because of the great character he is the Assassin’s Creed series was able to grow. It is sad to see that the next game will not be featuring this hero, however, with the way past Assassins Creed games has turned out we can only expect the same connect-ability from the series new main character, Conner. As we transition from one assassin to the next take the time to go over all the facts about Ezio that you may not have caught the first time around.
Ezio and Altair’s names have a similar origin. These ancestors’ names both mean something similar. “Ezio” means “eagle” while his ancestor “Altair” means “the flying one”. It has been noted that Altair’s names is connected to the star constellation called Aquila. Aquila is the brightest star whish also translated to the word “eagle”. The two main characters name having similar meanings is far from just a coincidence. It’s a wonder why Assassin’s Creed III features a main character that shies away from the flying and eagle trend.
In Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood it is hinted that Ezio may speak a little French. When the player is in Baron de Valois’ camp one of the guards aggressively asks Ezio which part of France he is from. Ezio responded to the guard with the answer of “Montreal” which makes reference to the company responsible for creating the Assassin’s Creed Series, Ubisoft Montreal.
Unlike previous Assassin’s Creed installments, in Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Ezio only wears a cape prior to being captured by the Masyaf Templars and when he wears the Armor of Brutus outfit. In previous installments to the series Ezio wears a cape over his left shoulder. When the player views Ezio’s cape in the small segments in Assassin’s Creed Revelations it is of the same animation that it was in Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood. On top of that fact, in Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Ezio doesn’t wear the classic white robe he usually does; this is the only game he is featured in that has a colored default robe.
Ezio is featured in the game Soul Calibur V as the game’s guest fighter. Ezio is exactly how he is in Brotherhood and uses most of the weapons from this game at his disposal. He is given only one set of weapons in Soul Calibur V and is equip with the Roman long sword and stiletto dagger. His weapons are not as powerful as they are in the Assassin’s Creed games because his capabilities had to match those of the rest of Soul Calibur V’s fighters. Ezio also has a separate story in the Soul Calibur world that closely resembles the story given to him in the Assassin’s Creed games.
Ezio is one of the most in-depth characters in the video game industry. He is the kind of character that we’ve seen grow into who he is and the kind of character that everyone could love. No matter how much research you do on Ezio you will never know everything about him. If you have a fun fact about this assassin that you would like to share feel free to post a comment in the box below. As the new assassin transitions into our life’s let not forget all that Ezio has brought to the table.
