As many of you may know, Borderlands 2 will indeed have DLC including at least four sets that are bundled withing the Season Pass, which although saves you 25%, will still run you $29.99 USD. Aside from the four packs there will be other DLC, the first of which is the Mechromancer Class DLC which was free if you pre-ordered the game, but can be purchased upon its release this October 16th. All we know other than her name (Gaige) and her class (Mechromancer), is her Action Skill called ‘Summon Deathtrap’ giving her the ability to command mechs, including the D374-TP (Deathtrap).
In a recent interview with Randy Pitchford, he reveals some news about the upcoming DLC and what the team is working on. He stated that he indeed wants to add more classes to the game but that it will soley be determined on how well the feedback (as well as sales) do for the Mechromancer Class, while he also referred to it as “the first” hinting at the fact that Gearbox may have other classes already lined up. Randy goes on to say “The stuff we’re planning and working on for the Campaign DLC Season Pass is big DLC stuff – more like Knoxx.” ['The Secret Armory of General Knoxx' being the largest DLC pack from the first game]… “We’re extremely far along with the first campaign DLC. The second DLC is also in amazing shape. The third DLC is a little farther out and the fourth DLC is just in the pre-concept stages.”
As you can see they are hard at work hopefully on the brink of bringing us the best DLC for the franchise yet. While at the same time they should be considering just how well the DLC from the original Borderlands did on top of 2K Games released two additional versions of the first Borderlands with one containing two add-ons while the other containing all add-ons to the game. Randy also made it perfectly clear that the Mechromancer DLC will be far from the only content that will be released outside the set of four content packs included in the Season Pass. While I feel that for 30 bucks you should get all the DLC released within the year from release, I can’t help but be happy to hear the ambitious DLC plans from Gearbox and 2K for Borderlands 2, with it being such a great game. Read our Review here, where we gave it a 9 out of 10.
Lastly, Randy Pitchford was speaking at the Borderlands 2 panel at the Software Community Day for Gearbox, when he stated.. “I’ve always wanted to ride a sail barge and drive a sand skiff,” said Pitchford. “I’ve always wanted to do that, and we’ve got some cool stuff that’s along those lines.” This is an obvious reference to the Star Wars films.
