There is a new title-holder as the fastest-selling PC game of all time.
Well, sort of new.
In a press release, Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. reported today that Cataclysm, the third expansion to the ridiculously popular World of Warcraft, sold 3.3 million copies in 24 hours, setting a new record for PC game sales. The previous record holder was Wrath of the Lich King, which was the second World of Warcraft expansion in 2008, selling 2.8 million copies in its first day. According to the press release, the World of Warcraft subscriber base had already exceeded 12 million players prior to Cataclysm’s launch. Read more
