The Last of Us follows the cinematic story of Joel and Ellie. Joel is a middle-aged man while Ellie is a young girl who was raised after a post apocalyptic event. The two struggle to survive in this new trailer that shows 7 minutes of full on gameplay. This is the same trailer that was a part of the last showing of Sony’s E3 2012 Press Conference which was held at the L.A. Sports Arena on 6/4/2012.
The demo shows how Ellie and Joel working together to take out a band of scavengers while they make their way to a bridge which takes them outside of the city. It is clear that the events that have riddle the city with survivors and infected simply know as a “clicker”. The game trailer shows how this new IP plans on breathing life into the survival horror genre with amazing detail and a cinematic experience while in combat.
It is still unclear whether or not Ellie acts on her own or is controlled by the player. However it is obvious that she is a loyal companion by Joel’s side as she comes to his aid multiple times. Also be on the look out when she interacts with the environment to pick up a brick and later throws it at an enemy.
Naughty Dogs new title is being noticed as one of the premiere titles being developed exclusively on the PS3. It is simply breath-taking when the interactions your character makes in-game is matched by the audio with grunts and one liners that will have you sucked you into this experience. Ellie will also comment on the actions you take as you play the game and will express human emotion when killing individuals. This of course all adds to the fear while playing the game. Be on the look out for this amazing title from the Uncharted developers when the games release date is announced in the future with a possible 2012 holiday release!
