A few days ago it was announced that a new Gears of War was in production for the Xbox 360. Very Few details were released about it and players were going to have to wait until the Microsoft Press Conference at E3 2012 before any details emerged. Today right before the conference we learned a few new things about this much anticipated game.
The new Gears of War got a title, Gears of War: Judgment and will have both class based multiplayer as well as a campaign that will be set 15 years before the first installment of the franchise. If you are to be playing multiplayer on the COG team, the player will be able to choose between an engineer, a soldier, a medic or a scout. Each of these multiplayer characters in multiplayer is one of a specialty of the characters in the game.
Damon Baird has shown up on the cover of the July issue of Game Informer and will be an engineer. He is carrying both weapons, a Gnasher and Blowtorch. He COG can repair damaged defense as well as deploy sentry turrets. Cole will also appear in the game as a soldier.
Two other characters were revealed and are named Sophia Hendricks and Garron Paduk. Hendricks will take the roll of a medic. She will be equip with a Lancer and Snub pistol. Sophia will also have Stim Gas grenades at her disposal. She can also use grenades to revive downed team mates hence her medic title. Paduk has been revealed as a scout with a Snub pistol beacon grenade and a Longshot.
Just like the COG army the Locust carry different abilities and skills. There will be more than just the average grunt available. Locust like Wretch, Tickers, and Kantus will be who the players embody during a multiplayer match. The Wretch will be able to leap over hazards, Ticker eats defenses, and Kantus heals teammates. There will also be other Locust available to battle with special abilities also. This includes the Mauler, Bloodmount, Serapede, Grenadier and Corpser.
The new game mode will be called overrun. The players get two rounds with five players on each team, one team defending while the other searches to kill and destroy. COGs protect the Emergence Holes with the Hammer of Dawn while the others try to prevent them from keeping the holes sealed. Multiplayer will have character progression and the function of leveling up like most games.
For fans of more than just multiplayer, the campaign will be set 15 years before the first Gears of War game. The game will follow the story of young Baird, young Cole and their former squad that is not looked in on a good light by the government. The team is accused of all kinds of unlawful acts by the COG leader Colonel Loomis.
We can expect to get more details on Gears of War: Judgment after the Microsoft Press Conference comes to an end later on today. I don’t know about you but this game already sounds addicting!
