We got to get some inside information on the debut game from Leap To Mobile dubbed Skipping Turtles. The game will be released for iOS, Android and on the newly announced Ouya game console. While the game was originally developed for iOS it seems that the company has kickstarted the game and are receiving generous attention. Here is a quick back story of where the game picks up straight from the mouth of the developer.
“Clack, Clack, Clack rattles Skippy’s door and wakes him up from his afternoon nap. Skippy is a middle aged turtle, once world famous for his ability to slide and skip across any surface is now enjoying his retirement years from the sport. As he opens the door he can see his friends gathered together outside talking in a hushed tone. ”Do you think he still has it?” ”What if he says no?” ”Are you sure he is qualified for this?” As Skippy opens the door you can see behind him all of his awards, pictures with foreign diplomats, medals, and trophies displayed all over his home. He asks, “What is going on out here? I am trying to get some rest before my announcer job at Wave Rock’s skipping competition.” All eyes turn to Skippy. Hops, the legendary red kangaroo exclaims, “Skippy we need your help!” And thus our adventure begins…
At the request of his friends Skippy has decided to come out of retirement and assemble the crew back together for one last adventure. Salty, the menacing saltwater crocodile and his minions are back from exile from the harsh Australian Outback and have started to take over the water supply from the other animals by constructing a water system that will effect the Land Down Under. Skippy and his team are their last hope to get things back to normal again.
The object of the game is to navigate Skippy (our hero) through a water way consisting of pipes, slides, underground labyrinths, and tunnels to stop the work of Salty (Skippy’s Nemesis) and his minions from rerouting the water to his exile land. Skippy is joined by his best friend Snap, an alligator snapping turtle. Snap and other characters, shells, abilities will be either “in app” purchases or earned by defeating levels and achieving milestones in the game. There will also be hidden levels throughout the game, similar to the old school Super Mario Brothers, that allows players additional challenges.”
