EA had dropped numerous hints before Spike TV’s Video Game Awards about what game they would be revealing during the show this past Saturday. It didn’t come as much of a surprise to most that Mass Effect 3 was that game, but it didn’t keep the goosebumps from surfacing.

Those of us watching were treated to a trailer depicting an English soldier sniping from Westminster Palace, while the landscape around him appeared devastated. The camera pans back, revealing the descent of several of the terror-inducing Reapers on to Earth while Commander Shepard plotted and schemed from his spaceship orbiting the planet. At the end of the trailer, we finally received the first indication of when we should expect to be playing Mass Effect 3 with a release time of “Holiday 2011.” Read more
