One is the loneliest number.
February is the shortest month of the year, and it’s also the month with the least amount of new DLC for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3, with only one new map, Overwatch, being released. For those who weren’t happy with the close quarters combat of Piazza and the Sniper lovefest of Liberation last month, rest assured, this month things are different.
Overwatch is set on top of a skyscraper in New York City, still very much under construction, with plenty of small areas to hide, open areas to lob grenades, multiple levels to climb and ledges to fall off. There really isn’t much room for error in certain spots and just when you think you’re safe, or just after you get that revenge kill, boom, you’ve fallen to your death.
Unlike the previous DLC maps, Piazza and Liberation, Overwatch doesn’t cater to one play style, and while Snipers may not have much room to work with, there is something for everyone here. There is a crane off to the side of the map that you can walk out on and snipe from (it was successful against me anyway) and a few other spots that snipers may have some luck from, but it’s definitely not going to be their favorite map. Overwatch is more well around, and while there are plenty of tight corners to watch out for, most of the areas are open enough that you have a decent amount of time to see your attackers coming, or at least a good percentage of the time anyway. I still found people sneaking around with Shotguns, or trying to get up to the higher levels to sit and Snipe down on us, but they don’t blend in as well as on Liberation, so they are easier to spot. I didn’t have any problems (aside from my skill, or lack of in some cases) running around with an Assault Rifle or SMG, and my favorite gun, the Type 95, worked like a charm on Overwatch.
