Here’s to all you early adopters of the Nintendo 3DS! In true Nintendo handheld fashion a new iteration of the hardware has been announced in the form of Nintendo 3DS XL(3DS LL in Japan). The new piece of hardware from the Nintendo family was formerly introduced via Nintendo Direct which took place tonight. Also the new 3DS XL takes after the DSi and the DSi XL before it as it includes larger screens for the platform. One thing it doesn’t introduce however is a second analog stick which doesn’t really sit well with hardcore adopters of the 3DS. Don’t worry though all is not lost as the new XL will sport a longer battery life and a larger screen at 4.88 inches.
So all in all the new 3DS XL has a 90% larger screen. And will be available for purchase in the United States on August 19th 2012. The MSRP for this bad boy will be 199.99 and will be available in both Red and Blue. On another note expect the original 3DS to possibly take a cut in price after this announcement to make room for the new 3DS hardware.
