Treat this with a pinch of salt as this is an unverified report without a confirmed source. Nevertheless, the report claims that Ubisoft’s 2012 schedule includes the heavily rumored Assassin’s Creed 3 and the Jade Raymond-developed Splinter Cell: Retribution (we knew this was coming, but this is the first we’ve heard about the game’s possible title).
Here’s the list and while I must again stress this has not been confirmed by Ubisoft, it doesn’t seem out of the realms of believability:
- Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows)
- Far Cry 3 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows)
- I Am Alive (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360)
- Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Microsoft Windows)
- Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Online (Microsoft Windows, Wii U)
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Retribution (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Microsoft Windows)
- Prince of Persia (Wii, 3DS)
- Assassin’s Creed 3 (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Microsoft Windows)
- Just Dance Final Party (Wii, Xbox 360, Playstation Move)
The presence of the Wii U as a release platform for Assassin’s Creed 3 should be of interest to Nintendo fanboys as this suggests that Ubisoft’s vocal support of the Wii U back at E3 2011 will culminate in their mega-franchise finally appearing on a console by the big N. If the list is correct it also confirms that the Splinter Cell series is going back to being a multi-platform franchise after Splinter Cell: Conviction‘s exclusivity to the Xbox 360 and PC.
For now we’ll file this in the ‘sounds about right, but I’ll hold my breath’ drawer, but surely it’s only a matter of time now before Assassin’s Creed 3 gets a full reveal.
