Sony’s widely rumored cloud gaming deal with Gaikai will bring backwards compatibility back to the PlayStation 3, according to a new report.
Sources have told GamesIndutsry.biz that the service will allow PS2 and PSone titles to be streamed via the console. A range of first party classic titles will be offered along with an option for third party developers to sell their back catalogues.
Gaikai currently offers game streaming to PCs from several publishing partners. Giving third parties the ability to sell their back catalogues is a fantastic idea, there are several PlayStation 2 games that fans have been dying to play again, and this deal could make it possible for them to do so. We expect this announcement – if real – to be made during Sony’s E3 press conference on Monday.
