Sony Wants To Know What You’ll Pay To Download Vita Versions Of PS3 Games

Sony’s PlayStation Vita features an impressive “Cross Play” feature that allows you to play PS3 games on the handheld console, but it seems like they can’t decide how to price it. So, it appears they’re referring to you, the consumer.

As spotted and detailed by Digital Spy, Sony has been floating a survey around, asking people how much they would be willing to spend on a digital download of an upcoming Grand Theft Auto PS3 title for the PS Vita. While most would think the only option would be a 100-percent discount, Sony is apparently testing what’s the bare minimum they can charge:

“Imagine you bought the PS3 version of the latest Grand Theft Auto game,” read the survey.

“As you’ve bought the PS3 version of the game, you would be able to download the PS Vita version of the game with a discounted price (from the normal price of £29.99).”

It displayed ten different discount amounts, ranging from £5 to £22.50 and even for free, asking users to rate how likely they were to use the offer.

The same survey also asks whether the respondent would prefer to download digital versions of PS3 and Vita games from PSN if they were £5 cheaper than retail.

Previously, another Sony survey was spotted online, which suggested a seemingly better deal for free PS Vita downloads of PS3 titles with a paid PlayStation Plus membership. That would require a redeemable code from the PS3 game in question, but at $50 a year, the service would assumedly pay for itself in PS Vita Cross Play downloadables.

As shown in the pictures below (also from Digital Spy), that same survey asked which games players would be most likely to download for a discounted price on the PlayStation Network. That list includes Gran Turismo, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed, and LittleBigPlanet.

What do you PlayStation fans think? Would you purchase PS3 and PS Vita games for Cross Play separately, or should the PS Vita version be free (perhaps with a PlayStation Plus account)?
