Don’t Starve: Giant Edition swill amble its way over to PlayStation Vita next week, developer Klei Entertainment announced today on the PlayStation Blog.
In his post, studio co-founder Jamie Cheng revealed that while cross-buy compatible with Don’t Starve’s PS4 version (meaning those who already own the PS4 version will be able to grab it on Vita free), the team at Klei was unfortunately unable to make Don’t Starve’s Vita release cross-play compatible with PS4.
“In order for us to get the game on Vita, we had to rewrite a bunch of backend code to optimize it,” Cheng wrote. “Because of this, the save games are not compatible with PS4, so there is no cross play.”
Don’t Starve: Giant Edition will cost $14.99 when it launches September 2, and will include all of the Reign of Giants expansion content, including its two new playable characters, a full year’s worth of seasons, new biomes, an additional save slot, and, of course, giants.
