Roughly seventeen years ago, Nintendo released a collection of original NES Super Mario titles on one Super Nintendo game cartridge. That game was called Super Mario All-Stars and it featured the original Super Mario Bros., the North American Super Mario Bros. 2 and the ever-popular Super Mario Bros 3. It also included Super Mario Bros.: the Lost Levels. For those who aren’t in the loop, Lost Levels is the original Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 and the North American Super Mario Bros. 2 is actually the Japanese video game Doki Doki Panic.
In late 2010, Nintendo released a Wii version of Super Mario All-Stars. This new version still had all four original NES titles on one disk but it also includes a soundtrack CD featuring original 8-bit music and sound effects from the games and a small booklet covering the history of the video game icon. Outside of those two items and cleaning-up the graphics to look nice on newer televisions, that’s all that is different. Read more
