Microsoft’s Xbox 360 has already taken up permanent residence in many people’s entertainment centers thanks to a smorgasbord of feature focused around streaming video and media content. According to the latest E3 rumors, it’s going to go one step further with a feature called “Xbox Smart Glass”.
The Examiner claims inside information from Microsoft themselves, citing that this new tool will allow people to remotely control their Xbox 360s with Windows, Android and iOS mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad. That’s just the tip of the iceberg, as the following features are also said to be in the mix for an E3 announcement:
- Wireless streaming video content can be pushed from your tablet, computer or phone to your Xbox 360.
- Applications on the Xbox 360 can be viewed through tablets.
- Content from the Xbox 360 can be played on your mobile devices, ala “AirPlay”.
It’s not a groundbreaking change, but still an interesting insight into what Microsoft is going with the soon-to-be-replaced Xbox 360 model. Hopefully, hands-on demos will be happening on the E3 show floor.
