A workaround for Mass Effect 2 players that fixes extremely long load times stemming from dual core issues has been released and is available now for download.
The majority of the loading issues take place between decks of the Normandy; some have figured out that the problems have to do with the game’s processor affinity. When set to one core and then back to two cores the issues clear up, but this either forces players to address the situation manually every time they play, or have impeded performance elsewhere in the title.
