Microsoft Confirms it Won’t be Attending GamesCom or TGS

Microsoft has confirmed that it will not be attending GamesCom or the Tokyo Game Show this year, instead choosing to focus on smaller events and localized promotions.

“As you saw at E3, we have a solid line-up of games launching this holiday, along with other entertainment experiences. We’ve changed our approach a little, though,” reads a statement on Major Nelson’s blog. ”This year, Xbox will be focusing on smaller, more localized promotions and experiences for press, partners, retailers and customers around the world. Which means that as you might have seen on some of the news sites today, we won’t be taking part in GamesCom or Tokyo Games Show this year.”

Microsoft struggled to generate excitement at this year’s E3 due to a lack of first-party titles, which is probably a major factor behind this decision. Sure, they had Gears of War: Judgment and Forza Horizon, but these titles were relegated to quick glimpses in a sizzle reel. Hopefully the company can come back next year stronger than ever, maybe even with some next-gen announcements.

Did Microsoft wow you with its E3 press conference?
