Nanea Reeves: “Not all of the current console makers will have one more generation.”

So, just as news hit the stands that E3 will bring us a brand new generation of consoles, Gaikai’s cheif production officer Nanea Reeves dropped a bombshell on us during a CES interview, letting us all know that one of the big console makers will be stepping down this year. While many of us will throw our heads back and laugh and this statement, it’s not something that would be said lightly by somebody in her position on such a public stage.

With Nintendo already getting ready to grace us with the Wii U, in all it’s two screened glory, the sights are clearly aimed on Sony and Microsoft. Given that Cloud gaming is in direct competition with major consoles, a large helping of salt should be taken with this announcement, but it’s still an incredible claim to make so early in the convention cycle. With so many more chances for both Microsoft and Sony to once again captivate audiences all over the world with their new offerings, this claim could prove to not only be incorrect, but also counter-productive.
