Only a few years ago, the sport of mixed martial arts was somewhat of an untapped resource in the gaming community. The idea of effectively portraying the experience of a sport that combines boxing, Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling, and offering the mechanics of all of the above, was intimidating at best. THQ answered the bell in 2009 with their debut of the UFC Undisputed series and appeared to have hit a home run in terms of gameplay. However, being trapped in a single fight promotion did not enable them to represent the diversity of the sport, and the career mode was a big letdown. With EA MMA, Electronic Arts has now entered the ring to take the competition head-on. The result becomes a more accurate representation of the sport as a whole, and ultimately a more satisfying experience. Read more
